About Us

Hi there! We're Julia (she/her) and Tristyn (they/them). We're getting married and we're over the moon! We met on Tinder in February of 2020, when we were both living in Texas. When we first met, we connected over our shared love of classical music and video gaming. We only got the chance to go on two in person dates before COVID hit, but we decided that we still wanted to try to see each other, and started messaging until we felt comfortable to meet up in person again. Somehow we managed to make it work, and when Tristyn was asked to move to Wilmington, Delaware for work, Julia decided to move up with them. We officially relocated in December of 2021 and after almost a year of living together, Tristyn decided that they wanted to propose to Julia. On October 14, 2022, Tristyn proposed to Julia in front of a fountain as the sun set, and Julia happily said yes.

About the Venue

The Oddporium is "the first and only oddity shop in the state of Delaware. Here you will find everything from animal oddities of nature to antique medical instruments to vintage funerary items to spiritual supplies such as crystals and sage. Your one stop shop for the peculiar and the bizarre." They also have an attached bookshop, Beyond Books. Most importantly for this occassion, they also have a large backyard, where they hold movie nights and have invited Tristyn and Julia to get married.

We first visited the Oddporium in February of 2022 and fell in love with the atmosphere (or maybe just the shop cat, Grimm). We continued to visit as many weekends as possible and Julia even started carrying catnip around in her purse in order to give to Grimm. Over time, we became familiar with the owners of the store and the attached bookstore, Beth and Greg, who have become good friends. Beth, especially, was very excited when she found out Tristyn was thinking of proposing, and once we started looking into wedding venues, she offered the backyard of the Oddporium as an option, as well as offering to officiate, as she is ordained. We happily accepted both offers and have begun planning and buying decorations, with Beth as an avid participant.
