Travel Info
Airports: We recommend flying in to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), as it is about a 20 minute drive from the venue. However, you can also fly into Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), which is about an hour and a half away. If you fly into Newark Airport, there will be tolls as you drive to Delaware, so please be prepared and have cash on you in order to pay those.
Hotels: There are plenty of hotels around, as well as AirBnBs. You can find hotel rates for the weekend here.
Things to do: There's plenty to do in Wilmington. Visit the official state tourism site here or see a few of my recommendations below!
- Nemours Estate - Lovely gardens and a cool historical mansion to tour at your own pace.
- Winterthur - Another historical mansion and gorgeous gardens. Winterthur has more of a focus on artwork than Nemours, however.
- Delaware Art Museum - A collection of American art, including a sculpture garden.
- Brandywine Museum of Art - Another art museum. Brandywine tends to focus on more contemporary works than Delaware does.
- Riverfront Wilmington - The riverfront is gorgous, with a river walk, fun sculptures and informational signage, and plenty of restaurants and activities.
- Kalmar Nyckel - If you're interested in the history of the area, the Kalmar Nyckel is a tall ship and associated museum that discusses the trade history that put the Brandywine river and Delaware on the map.
